Teacher Training Courses

The S.J.U took cognizance of the fact that for quality education to be imparted , it needed qualified teachers . Keeping this in mind a three year teacher training course was offered for women. Theses courses were held in Pietermaritzburg , Phoenix , Tongaat and Chatsworth. The lecturers, again members of the S.J.U offered their services free of charge. Alhamdolillah , 150 women graduated as a result of these courses. They are successful teachers at the madressas where they are employed. On the 26th and 27th July 2005,the S.J.U held another teacher training workshop to facilitate better educator pupil relationship amongst others. Certificates were also handed out to those participants who attended this two day training workshop.

Counselling

With the present state of the ummah today and the inroads that have been made by western values there has been a tremendous need for counseling. This is a vacuum that the S.J.U has been trying to fill . Counseling has been provided to people with marriage problems , drug abuse ( working in conjunction with RAUF ) , legal matters pertaining to Shariah , the general application of Shariah and the provision of fatawas. Individuals visit our offices or members of the S.J.U make home visits . This takes up a lot of valuable time. One of the primary issues which the jamiat handles is marital resolutions.The jamiat has a plocy of reconcilcing both parties initially failing which,we try to facilitate a mutual separation amicably. Here again extenous costs are involved in liasing with both parties via telephone,fax,pstage,e-mail etc. This service is offered on a no charge basis.

Networking

The S.J.U has and is networking with various organizations for the betterment of the Ummah. As a result of this , members attend meetings throughout the country. The bodies that we have been working with regularly are NIHT , RAUF , WCRP and others. Besides these bodies , international delegates have been hosted and discussions on various issues have taken place.
